Good Websites

The following are some great online resources.

http://www.studybass.com/
Highly recommended. Has lessons, a dictionary of music terms, an online metronome, printable sheet music and more.

http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/
Probably the best online tab collection. Tabs are user submitted, so you can't always be sure of the quality, but just look around and read the ratings and comments. Has tabs for guitar, bass and drums.

http://chordbook.com
A Flash based site that lets you look up the fingering of any chord and will play the sound of that chord strumming.

Garage Band and Acid Express are both very useful for creating music on your computer. GarageBand lets you plug in an instrument and record and edit it.

  13. Excellent advice / starting programs for musical endeavors. Fruity loops is too complicated with all the plug-ins, but Acid and Garage band are not only easy, but fun. Good stuff!

  14. I was thinking about starting to learn guitar. I have one in my closet, but I was never able to learn. I've learned online resources and friends have tried to teach me, but my brain just doesn't want to absorb the knowledge. My last resort is that GuitarSmith game coming out in October.

  15. I like to use Chordie for chord resources. Ultimate-guitar is nice, but the advertising can get to be a little too much sometimes. On Chordie, you can find collections of similar songs that people have put together.
